Salt Creek Studio resides in a stand alone outbuilding behind my house. It sits nestled up to the woods in the back with a view of the valley out the front. While I love fly fishing, woodworking is my passion. I love designing and creating products for fly fishermen that are both functional and beautiful. I am particularly proud of my rod tubes and rod racks. In this disposable world, my goal is to create products that are cherished by their owners and passed down to the next generation.
I have chosen to use the word “studio” in my name instead of “shop” or “workbench” because when I hear the word studio I think of art. I think that conveys what I’m trying to do. I’m trying to create functional items with a view to the design and the artistic elements.
My studio has a mix of newer tools and some old favorites. Some of these were passed down to me from my father, my grandfather, and even my great-grandfather. I have found that some of the best woodworking hand tools are the old Stanley tools built in the USA before World War II. The old cast iron power tools built in the 30’s and 40’s were built to last forever. I recently restored a 1930 Delta drill press and put it back to work. It should be good for another 90 years. My 1940 Delta lathe also still has plenty of life left in it.

Your prized fly rods and reels are not only incredible fish catching tools, they are also works of art. The Salt Creek Studio reel display case will showcase 14 of your favorite reels. The fly rod tube storage rack will safely hold and display 13 of your best rods in their tubes.
Tying flies is a form of art. Why not surround your tying bench with beautiful accessories to help you organize your tying material? The Salt Creek Studio fly tying light is made of beautiful choice hardwood and produces a perfect LED light to aid in your tying. Just as every fish has unique colors and spots, each piece of wood displays unique and beautiful grain patterns. No 2 pieces are identical.
Waxed canvas looks great when it is new, and then it gets better with age. These travel bags will last for years and protect your gear from damage.
I hand select each piece of wood to find the most beautiful pieces available. I work with several different hardwood suppliers that specialize in different species. Much of the walnut I use comes from storm damaged trees from Missouri.
Salt Creek Studio is not a production shop. Each piece coming out of my shop has been hand made with great pride. They are finished with a hand rubbed finish that feels good in the hand. These pieces are made to be handled and touched for generations.
